Streaming

Humans, nature and technology. Three themes underlying the performance by Luise Kloos, commissioned by the AVL Cultural Foundation. Set against the backdrop of a fibreglass curtain running the entire length of the Helmut List Halle, upon which creative visuals were projected, the performance used C02 emissions as a metaphor for the interplay between mankind and the natural world.

Streaming, which was created to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of AVL in 2008, was choreographed by Liz King to the music of Erdem Tunakan. An aesthetic representation that aimed to make the connection between technological advancement and respect for nature, Streaming mirrors the work that AVL is conducting to reduce emissions across the powertrain industry.

Using the devices of music, dance and moving image, the piece reflects the inexhaustible possibilities of human thinking, actions and emotions. It then pits these concepts against both the joy and energy of technological development, and the responsibilities that come with it – particularly in relation to the natural world.
