”Symphony of Encounters – the Irvine Sensor Bilder Orchestra” explores the flexible boundaries of art, science and technology and its immense potential for innovation and collaborative synergies. In cooperation with composer Rupert Huber and an interdisciplinary team, the Symphony of Encounters was created to embody an idea that is relevant in all aspects of everyday life: Everyone makes a difference just by being here.

Every year since 2011, employees from AVL Regensburg in Germany have teamed up with students from the Institute for Art Education at the University of Regensberg to create something exciting, innovative and new. Under the watchful eye of their tutor, Josef Mittlmeier, the students collaborate with the AVL engineers to bring together ideas from economics, technology, art and to create artworks inspired by the work, culture and values of AVL. And at the same time they gain valuable insight into AVL, its history, and the work of its people.

The AVL Cultural Foundation, together with AVL, started the international project “Connecting Passions” as an employee initiative. This initiative opens doors for artistic meetings – and unites the AVL community in a world-spanning creative adventure.

The pandemic has shown how abruptly a filled cultural calender can yawn with emptiness. The year 2020 has brought great challenges to everything, especially to the art and cultural life. In May 2020, the AVL Cultural Foundation therefore launched a new video series to offer artists and their activities another channel of communication and to continue to enable collaboration during this period.

Each year AIMS, the American Institute of Musical Studies, brings students from cities around America and elsewhere in the world to join their Austrian counterparts in Graz, Austria. The classical music academy is an opportunity for learning, collaboration and performance.
